Searching For Lost "Rites"-the Enlightenment Of Confucian "Rite" Culture To Ideological And Political Education

Since the early days of ancient China,the Confucian “Rite” culture is a major sy mbol of Chinese culture.For thousands of years,“the state of Rites” is a social ideal which is praised and pursued by numerous Chinese people with lofty ideals and wise men and women.At the same time,it is also the reputation of their long endeavors an d struggles.Chinese Confucian “ritual” culture has been lasting for thousands of years,and its contribution to mankind is obvious to all.In recent years,with the reconcern of traditional culture,the value of the Confucian “Rite” culture has been reexcavated,and many of them can be excavated and explored as the rich resources of Ideological and political education today.As Confucius wrote in “the Analects of Confucius” Li R en: “ When we see men of worth,we should think of equaling them;when we see me n of a contrary character,we should turn inwards and examine ourselves.”In addition,Confucian “Rite” culture also includes the requirements of moral edu cation in Ideological and political education,such as,“self-discipline” and “self-exam ination”.It also includes the moral requirments for the people,for example,the Confu cian “Rite” culture also demand Ideological and political education.That is to say,we must control our words and actions and make them conform to Rites.This way of rest ricting behavior by “ritual” is mainly to maintain the feudal rule in ancient times,thus there are certain limitations of the time.However,the moral requirements of strict dis cipline and lenient to others are of great significance in the ideological and political ed ucation and the theory fields,including “the responsibility is heavy to the week,the re sponsibility is light to the person,” “put the interest of others above one's own”,“feel f or others”,“repay injury with kindness” and “true to yourself,self-disciplin”.These ways of self-denial included in the “ceremony” are important parts of our Chinese tra ditional virtues.Although these methods may have limitations,if we abandon those ba ckward and decadent political ideas and use these methods in a new way,we can guid e us to self-check,introspect,renew and improve our political and moral level.Then,t hese methods have new meanings and functions,which can become rich resources to be inherited from ideological and political education.Starting with the study of the concept of the Confucian “Rite” culture,this paper analyzes the connotation of the Confucian “Rite” culture and explores its valuable val ue as a resource of Ideological and political education.Through the analysis of the pre sent situation of the lack of “Rites” in the social level,it reveals the embarrassing situation of the frequent and disrespectful phenomenon of the social development.Theref ore,the feasibility of integrating Confucian “Ritual” culture with ideological and polit ical education is to put forward,and to explore the countermeasures and approaches f or the integration of them.Let the traditional “Ritual” culture be used for the present a nd maximize its modern value,so as to eliminate the impolite and rude behavior in the society.
