As an emerging teaching mode in recent years,microlecture is terse,forceful,effective and diversified.It can bring new opportunities for many subjects and promote students' personalized learning effectively and teacher's information technology capability and professional ability to some extent.Therefore,microlecture enjoys great popularity in English class in primary and secondary school.To explore the application of microlecture in specific subjects has become an important topic.Some problems still exist in vocabulary teaching,for instance,single teaching method and lack of lexical repetition.The purpose of the paper is to combine microlecture with English teaching,to explore the specific application results of microlecture in English class in junior middle school and to provide specific improvement suggestions.The paper investigates 59 junior school students,who are from 2 parallel classes in F Junior Middle School in Shanghai.The paper mainly adopts literature research method,questionnaire method,interview method and experimental method,aiming to analyse the following questions.First,how is the application status of the microlecture in English vocabulary teaching in subject class? Second,what is the effect of microlecture-assisted approach to English vocabulary teaching?The research results are as follows: 1.The aspects of application status of microlecture: 1)Most of the teachers and students have known the microlecture.Students get to know it by extracurricular educational institution,while teachers know it through the process of teacher training and online learning.This teaching method is rarely used in real classrooms.2)Teachers have some problems in the aspect of technology and time distribution,they are less likely to choose microlecture to assist English teaching unless there are some explicit requests.3)Most of the students hope to use microlecture in their vocabulary learning,to help them consolidate knowledge and to complement daily expressions.4)The majority of students prefer group-discussing method,microlecture-assisted approach and powerpoint presentation.2.The effects of microlecture-assisted approach to English vocabularyteaching: 1)Microlecture has a positive impact on student's vocabulary test score.2)Students have positive attitudes to microlecture-assisted approach.3)Microlecture has a positive impact on students' understanding of vocabulary and improves their vocabulary level to some extent.4)Microlecture brings students new insights into vocabulary-learning strategies.At last,some pedagogical implications can be drawn based on research results and some specific suggestions can be provided for vocabulary teaching and learning based on this study.
