Pedagogical Content Knowledge(PCK)is teachers' unique knowledge and is the academic construction that best embodies the professionalism of teachers. At present, the systematic researches on teachers' PCK are relatively abundant in the field of basic education in China. However, the researches on primary school science is relatively little. The research involved in this thesis is a comparative empirical research between urban and rural areas and the core of the research is the PCK of primary school science teachers. The research aims to improve the balanced development of the professionalism of primary school science teachers in urban and rural areas. The study firstly introduces the research status of teachers' PCK at home and abroad. And then,by combining the curriculum characteristics of primary school science, the thesis establishes the analysis framework of the research from five aspects, namely, knowledge of primary science goals and objectives, knowledge of primary science curriculum, knowledge of primary science learner, knowledge of primary science teaching strategies and methods, knowledge of primary science assessment.According to the analysis framework, the study carries out a comparatively comprehensive comparison and analysis of the PCK of primary school science teachers in urban and rural areas through a comprehensive survey conducted in Liaocheng City. The research methods adopted in the survey are questionnaire, classroom observation and interview. The respondents of the survey's questionnaire are all the primary school science teachers in Liaocheng City;the samples of the survey's classroom observation are the 18 science lessons in the primary school of urban and rural areas;the interviewees the survey's interviews are eight primary school science teachers who are teaching the 18 science lessons.According to the research findings, there are three significant differences among primary school science teachers in urban and rural areas, including knowledge of primary science curriculum, knowledge of primary science learner and knowledge of primary science assessment. The detailed contents of these differences are:(1)knowledge of primary science curriculum: rural teachers' understanding of curriculum content is not as thorough as urban teachers;and rural teachers' organization of curriculum content is not as reasonable as urban teachers;(2)knowledge of primary science learner: rural teachers' understanding of students' existing knowledge and experience is not as comprehensive as urban teachers;(3)knowledge of primary science assessment: rural teachers' understanding of evaluation principles is not as good as urban teachers. In order to improve the balanced development of the professionalism of primary school science teachers in urban and rural areas, the study puts forward specific and targeted advice according to the research findings from two aspects. On the one hand,it is necessary to preferentially improve the PCK developments of primary school science teachers in rural areas. The specific measures include:(1)primary school science teachers should read more related professional books so as to strengthen the learning and understanding of scientific knowledge;(2)primary school science teachers should learn, study and communicate with each other more frequently and focus on curriculum content organization training;(3)primary school science teachers should conduct action research and focus on the combination of students' interest-oriented and existing knowledge and experience;(4)primary school science teachers should learn more knowledge of students' academic development assessment. On the other hand,it is necessary to enhance the communication and cooperation between primary school science teachers in urban and rural areas. The specific measures include:(1)to improve the post rotation between primary school science teachers in urban and rural areas;(2)to establish a learning community for primary school science teachers in urban and rural areas.
