Entering the new century,the society is developing faster and faster and the degree of economic globalization is getting higher,both of which raise higher requirements on English learning.As is well known,vocabulary is the basis of English learning,which includes four skills,that is,listening,speaking,reading and writing.However,the lack of vocabulary has become a barrier,which keeps students from grasping English skills better.The traditional methods of vocabulary teaching overlooks the characteristics of vocabulary and adopts some inappropriate ways.In addition,in vocabulary teaching,teachers mainly focus on the explanation of words,which is dull and teacher-centered,thus,neglecting the participation and interaction of students.What's more,the new criterion of English courses raises much greater requirements on vocabulary teaching.So,teachers are supposed to reconsider and change their teaching methods to satisfy the needs of English vocabulary teaching.Among numerous vocabulary teaching methods,cooperative learning is a useful one.Cooperative Learning,as a very significant teaching method,has attracted more and more attention from researches since the 1980 s.So,this research aims to explore the advantages of cooperative learning for Senior High School to create an effective strategy of English vocabulary learning.Meanwhile,the findings of the research will be a supplement to the traditional vocabulary teaching.This research will verify the following two hypotheses: 1)By using CL vocabulary learning model,students in senior high school can effectively expand their vocabulary and improve their ability to use vocabulary.2)By using CL vocabulary learning model,students in senior high school can improve their learning enthusiasm,learning habits and improve their cooperative ability.
