Driven by the "economic globalization" and "the world integration" and affected by the political and economical elements,the information technology and education has been rapidly developed in all the countries around the world,which greatly promote the spread and communication of cultural elements in various countries and regions.Since the reform and opening up,with the deepening of economic and cultural exchanges among countries all over the world,the communication and spread of music culture has greatly affected the social music life in China.The diversification of music culture is the inevitable cultural phenomenon in the social historical process,while the music education in primary school plays an important role in widening the children's vision of music culture and also in cultivating their correct values.Shanghai is a pilot area of national comprehensive education reform,it's not unified with the new curriculum standard of China,instead,it has a music curriculum standard and a set of teaching idea and teaching system of its own.Textbook is the basic foundation of teaching,therefore,this paper will take the textbook of Shanghai primary school which is in the pilot area of comprehensive education reform as the research object,start from the concept of multiculturalism,make an analysis and research of the content arrangement,unit theme,arrangement form and framework of the textbook,so as to get a comprehensive and objective understanding on primary school music teaching in Shanghai.By analyzing the music textbook of Shanghai primary school,the paper finds that the textbookfocuses on interest,takes aesthetic as the core,promotes national music and permeates multi-culture.Based on a questionnaire survey of the music teachers and students in Shanghai primary school on the effect of the use of music textbook,the paper concludes that under the concept of multiculturalism,the content of music textbook is obsolete,students and teachers are generally satisfied;the local features are not obvious;the cultural elements are insufficient.The paper proposes some pertinent suggestions: renew the content of textbook,increase multicultural teaching contents;add local music in Shanghai to reflect local features;fully excavate the cultural elements.The time is progressing,the society is developing,and the exploration of music textbook is a long task.The compilation of textbookshould conform to the development of the times,follow the pace of the times,and combine the multi-culture with local culture.
