With the development of remote sensing technology, the resolution of the remote sensing image is increasing and images have carrying more data. This offers a serious challenge to the image storage and the bandwidth of down-link channel, so we should compressed the image data to reduce the data volume.Due to the above problem, had designed a Satellite-based Image compression unit.Its use "FPGA+ASIC" to implement the compression function.This unit need I/O interface to input the camera data and output the compression stream.In this unit, the compression algorithm part is achieve by ASIC, and I/O interface which associated with the external interface protocols using FPGA to implement.This paper based on data compression system, focuses on the I/O module Design which relates specifically to the compression ASIC and camera format of the system, and completed five important modules design of this I/O interface. The pixel 2 to 8 module is to achieve the reduction function of image data; the image-filled module has realize the image filling operation of any image; the image merge module has realize the function of put the pixel into a complete image; the compression parameter add module is to realize the function of add the compression parameter to the pixel data. In the output interface,has designed the stream output control signal generating module, it realizes the function of reading the compression stream from the Asikis this paper, some key problems in system is also has been discussed. Finally, through a large number of simulation and test, prove the correctness of I/O module.
