Research Of The Urbanization Of Migrant Workers In Shandong Province

The transition of the urbanization of migrant workers is the inevitable process of urbanization constructions in China, and it is an indispensable component for the economic transitions of our country as well. Currently, although the progress of urbanization of migrant workers differentiates from one place to another throughout the country, the development of the progress is slow in general. Basically, the reason is that migrant workers should enjoy relevant right guarantee and urban public services during their transition process, which leads to increase the government investments as well as the costs inevitably. However, the massive capital requirements probably exceed government's affordability. The discussion of the cost issues of urbanization of migrant workers helps them better blend themselves into urban life,promotes the robust economic development and social stability. Nevertheless, most of the existing studies referring to the cost issues of urbanization of migrant workers are either qualitative analysis or rough estimate. They are short of demonstrations and explanations,and their flexibilities are limited. Hence,the detailed measurement and sharing mechanism of the cost of urbanization of migrant workers are the primary research objects in this paper.The population of Shandong province is the second large province in China,approximately,migrant workers accounted for a quarter of the province's population,the binary structure of urban and rural is obvious, and it is the basic national conditions of China in miniature. Based on the status of urbanization of migrant workers in Shandong province, this paper has made a completely and thoroughly analysis to the existing scale, the general features and the constraints of urbanization.To begin with, this paper illustrates the theory of floating population, the costs theory, the urbanization theory and the theory of urbanization costs. Moreover,the status of urbanization of migrant workers is also interpreted. Secondly, based on a set of data collected by on-the-spot investigation, the current status of urbanization of migrant workers is evaluated objectively. Subsequently, by making use of model of the cost of population urbanization, the model of the cost of the transition of urbanization of migrant workers in Shandong province has been established. The cost of the urbanization of migrant workers in Shandong province has been measured and calculated carefully. Finally, based on the above research, the sharing mechanism of the cost of the transition of urbanization of migrant workers has been conducted.Furthermore, some measures have been proposed referring to the capital requirements of the transition of urbanization of migrant workers.
