It is doubtful whether engaging in the vertical specialization and initiating the export-oriented processing trade lead to the real decline of export sophistication level caused by forming dependence on the imported core intermediate inputs or improve technological level of exports by utilizing technology spillover effect to strengthen learning by doing in export industries. Considering the fact that trade volume clearance data to some extent induce the abnormal highness of export sophistication level in processing industries, it is highly necessary that we should eliminate the technological contribution by imported intermediate inputs, through the angle of value-added of exports mainly, to revivify and disassemble the net export sophistication level.Based on the perspective of export trade domestic value-added, this paper adopts a non-competitive input-output model to measure the domestic value-added coefficient of export industries in an effort to clarify the domestic technological contribution and imported technological contribution. It proposes a method to calculate the technological level of exports in exp ort categories from 1997 to 2011 by using the data from WIOD database and compare the differences with countries listed in the database and explore the influencing factors, which will exert direct effect on the export sophistication level. Results indicate : From the industries as a whole, the sector of service industry shares a prominently higher domestic value-added coefficient compared with the category of manufacturing industries, which is relevant to the multiple use of imported intermediate inputs espe cially in the manufacturing industries. The net technological level of export in China is generally rising, while still lower than the average level of the developed countries and the world, which indicates the conclusion of China export technical complex ity abnormalities is to some degree statistical illusion caused by the international trade division. In the final part of paper, we utilize the multinational panel regression model and grey correlation model to find out the fact that the FDI can remarkably boost the export sophistication level of manufacturing industries, while it does not much affect the service industries; the extent of openness in goods trade has a negative effect on improving the export technological level of service sector.
