Western theory cannot explain the special phenomenon of enterprises in China because of the contextual differences. This thesis studies the impact of variation of institutional context and performance frontiers on operations strategy during transition period. The main contents are as follows:Firstly, we define the construct of transition institutional context using institution theory. With the analysis of enterprise legitimate operations behavior which is about the relationship between the environment and the practice of enterprise management, we get the theoretical point of view that transition institutional context will affect the operations strategy. Secondly, we analyze the debate and development of performance frontier theory, and we propose a conceptual framework about the impact of the industry and enterprise performance frontier on the operations strategy. Thirdly, we refine the conceptual framework about the impact of the institutional context and performance frontier on the behavior and performance about operations strategy. We explain the legitimacy and efficiency between institutional context and operations behavior. Based on the framework, we analyzed the evolution of Lenovo operations behavior and performance. This research can provide reference for domestic enterprise strategic management practice.
