| The stagnancy of global market economy has brought huge impact on the current shipbuilding industry. The number of global shipyards new received orders and handheld orders decline continuously, price of all kinds of ships decrease greatly. Shipbuilding industry is to survive in global competition environment, Chinese shipbuilding industry goes forward with more difficulties in current market environment. The ten years’flourish of Chinese shipbuilding industry since 2003 is mainly due to the crazy market. The essential problems affecting sustained development have not been solved, such as extensive management, low design level, the waste of resources etc. With the further deterioration of shipbuilding market, the problems which have actual effects on ship enterprises surviving, such as cost, management, efficiency are right in front of all Chinese shipyards. China shipbuilding enterprises have realized that they will be washed out if they don’t increase the competitiveness of products through improving internal management.Shipping market atrophy directly led to the buyers and sellers position shift. The same batch production pattern which was anticipated by most of Chinese shipbuilding enterprises now is replacing by personalized order with small amount and critical conditions under buyer’s market environment. The old method of first few series products contributing to tuition is no longer suitable for the current order structure. At present Chinese shipyards are facing the fact of labor costs rising and unfavorable exchange rate changing, the lack in production preparation must be solved. Remarkable differences exist between Chinese shipyards and foreign advance shipyards in the same or ample resources conditions. The differences resulted are from the lack of management but not from the lack of resources. For the single product, it appeared to be the lack of production preparation management. The high cost and low efficiency are decided at the beginning stage of production planning. Only after solved the problems of production preparation systematically, the core competitiveness of Chinese shipyards can be enhanced.The article focused on the problems in production preparation management process of 180000 tons bulk carrier in DSIC, analyzed the internal and external factors, investigated the deficiency of production preparation combined with first-line production level, tried to find the root cause, solutions and then provide reasonable suggestions and concrete operation methods to improve the production efficiency and reduce costs. This article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction part mainly discussed the research background as well as the status quo at home and abroad. The second chapter is the basic theory part which introduced the concept of production preparation and related theory, and put forward the concept of shipbuilding production preparation of the four major stages. Chapter 3 as the one of the main chapters focus on typical production preparation problems of DSIC BC1800 project and proceed classification analysis to find out the root of the problem, find the missing items from the process. The fourth chapter puts forward the production preparation improvement, i.e. the flow chart of process improvement scheme. The fifth chapter proposed the implementation measures according to improved process. |
