With the rapid development of economy and the speeding up of urbanization, a series of problems such as environmental pollution, traffic congestion and hard parking come to follow. Rail transit is a kind of transportation which is big capacity, fast,comfortable, energy-saving and environmental protection. The construction of rail transit is an effective way to solve the problem of traffic congestion, and is welcomed by large and medium-sized cities. The cost of rail transit project is extremely high, and wrong decisions will lead to irreparable loss. So it is significant to study the methods of the calculation of rail transit's national economy benefit. This paper, which is on the basis of previous studies, starting from rail transit passenger flow, analyzing the calculation method of urban rail transit project national economic benefit.To start with, this paper discusses the characteristics of rail transit system and the development situation about the calculation of rail transit national economic benefit at home and abroad. And the literatures are reviewed, and points out some existing problems.Secondly, it is pointed out that rail transit national economic concept and the influence of rail transport of passenger, analysis of the rail transit passenger flow, which including induced passenger flow and transfer passenger flow, and a detailed analysis of rail transit transfer passenger flow, mainly from four kinds of transportation such as buses, taxis,electric vehicles and private cars. On the basis of analysis of the passenger flow, this paper study the mechanism of rail transit in national economic benefits from the function of rail transit, and put forward that number of rail transit passenger flow is the key factors influencing the efficiency, and the benefits are cannot quantify benefits classified as direct quantitative, indirect quantitative benefits and other benefits based on whether the rail transit national economy benefit can be quantified.Then, this paper will identify and calculate the rail transit national economy benefit.According to the national economy benefit recognition principle, and the principle of "with and without comparison", this paper will put forward method of calculation of direct and indirect quantitative benefits, and will just make qualitative analysis for benefits cannot be quantified on the basis of the rail transit passenger flow. Analyzes proportion of transfer passenger flow which from buses, taxis, electric vehicles and private cars. At the same time, the national economic benefits of the traffic flow which isstill on the road will also be calculated, and which will make a more comprehensive benefit calculation.Finally, the paper will verify the feasibility of computing method by analyzing suzhou rail transit line 4.
