Study On The Relationship Among Collaboration?Quality And Technology Transfer On The Organizational Level

In the 21st century, with the drive of the revolution of information technology and the wave of knowledge economy, the importance of technological innovation is increasing in countries and enterprises. Organizations intend to acquire innovative technologies through technology transfer across traditional organizational boundaries because of the intensified and complex competition. The importance of technology transfer is particularly significant in the emerging industries-the field of graphene. In our country, the way of strengthen collaboration among organizations is one of the important initiatives to promote the process of technology transfer, and the implementation of numerous policies have accelerated it. However, with the development of collaboration, the contribution of technology transfer to economy fail to meet expectation. It is still a problem which hinder the development of the technology and economy that the efficiency of technology transfer inter-organizational is not high.This study comb the relevant literature about collaboration, quality of the outcome and technology transfer, and remedy for the shortage of existing literature. We propose two paths of the impact of collaboration on technology transfer-direct impact and indirect impact which regard the quality of outcome as a Mediator variable, and examine the quality of outcome from two aspects-technical quality and economic quality. Eventually we form a relationship model of collaboration, quality of the outcome and technology transfer, which improve the mechanism for the impact of collaboration on technology transfer, which provide the guidance for work of collaboration and technology transfer to universities, research institutes and enterprises, which provide suggestions for the development of high-tech industry, which provide the reference for the formulation of relevant policies.Based on the theoretical model of collaboration, quality of outcome and technology transfer, the study select emerging industries-the field of graphene as research subjects, select graphene patent of 423 organizations as samples which authorized on the US Patent and Trademark Office. Then we describe collaboration, quality of outcome and technology transfer by indicators, and conduct the descriptive statistical analysis and correlation statistical analysis of indicators. Finally, we verify the relationship of collaboration, quality of outcome and technology transfer using econometric methods of Probit model and multiple linear regression model.The findings as follows:First, collaboration have a direct positive impact on technology transfer. Second, collaboration have a positive impact on economic quality of outcome and the economic quality of outcome have a positive impact on technology transfer. Third, the economic quality of outcome have a mediator function on the impact of collaboration on technology transfer. However, the mediator function of technical quality of outcome on the impact of collaboration on technology transfer have not been verified. Thus, comparing with the technical quality of outcome, the economic quality of outcome is more important for the impact of the collaboration on technology transfer. Above all, organizations need to pay attention to economic quality of outcome rather than technological breakthrough, which is a great significance for enhancing technology transfer in organizations.
