Research On The Project Management Of PLM System Implementation In A Company

With the rapid development of science and technology, the human society strides to the information age quickly; more and more enterprises started to have access to information and management tools. With the vigorous development of China’s economy over the years, enterprises have been in the continuous development and growth; at the same time, they began to engage with research and development innovation, deepening the new stage of enterprise management level. PLM(product lifecycle management) system is the management of the entire life cycle of product introduction, growth, maturity, decline and so on. It is widely favored as it can help enterprises R & D’innovation, and improve the ability of product management. As a result, the market demand for PLM system is growing rapidly.Adopting a combination of theoretical and practical research and using the theory of project management methods and PLM system implementation, this paper addresses the PLM implementation process in Company A, looking into Company A’s PLM system implementation strategy, implementation method and the implementation of the organizational management. It also analyzes and summarizes some important PLM implementation contents such as the scope management,schedule management, communication management and risk management.Proposed in this paper, the PLM system implementation as a information system has its own characteristics and need to refer to PLM implementation method and theory and the five main stages of system implementation: project set-up, blueprint design, system implementation, final preparation and launch and support. At the same time, enterprises should emphasize particularly on somewhat in the PLM system implementation process, his management should focus on PLM implementation scope management, project schedule management, ensure the project team of internal and external communication, fully recognize and evaluate the implementation risk and so on. The research conclusions of this paper can provide reference for small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises to implement PLM system, reduce theimplementation risk, and improve successful implementation ratio.
