P Company is an American-owned company that provides electronics manufacturing services, while also undertaking LTCC processing equipment. With the development of the company and the change of the market, the company decided to develop its own products. It began to design new equipment and push it to the market. With the increase of the development experience, P Company found that the existing R&D processes resulting a huge waste in the R&D actions. Considering the size and the organization of P Company, there isn't a suitable R&D process existing, which can be performed directly in P Company. P Company looked for a suitable R&D urgently.In this paper, according the principles and the methods of the Business Process Reengineer (BPR), the existing R&D process had been analyzed and the key elements were found by the tools of the BPR. By the study of the current R&D modes, some solutions were took out to reengineer the current R&D process, and the process after reengineering was described clearly. In addition, the paper also presents the company's TRL standard that ensure the reengineered process run correctly. The paper also calculated and analyzed an actual development case, the development cycle times and costs between the two R&D process show that the reengineered process is better than the old one.A practical example of BPR process on a small business R&D process can be found in this paper. A R&D process and a TRL standard which ensure the process run correctly can also be found in this paper. Hopefully, these two things can be a reference for the small business company which have the same headache.
