With the expanding of China’s export trade, the energy consumption of each industry sector is also increasing, which led to a large number of embodied CO2 emission in China’s export trade. This paper analyses China’s embodied CO2 emission from both theoretical and empirical ways.First of all, this paper makes a brief description of the situation of export trade, energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.Secondly, econometric test is used to test the relationship between export trade and carbon emission, data of export trade and carbon emissions from 1995 to 2014 is mainly tested to verify the long-term co-integration relationship. Then, the models are constructed to measure and analyze the embodied CO2 emission in China’s export trade, conclusions are as following:(1) embodied carbon emission intensity (domestic production and foreign production) decreased from 2007 to 2012, embodied carbon emissions increased; (2) the proportion of Primary and secondary industry’s embodied CO2 emission reduced gradually, the proportion of tertiary industry increased; (3) although the energy sector carbon emissions embodied in export trade is not high, carbon emission intensity is to the opposite; (4)abatement technique effect on the increase of carbon emission is negative, composition effect on the increase of carbon emission is positive or negative, scale effect on the increase of carbon emission is positive. Finally, some suggestions are put forward according to the research: (1) enhance international cooperation, participate in the establishment of the international climate regime; (2) expand the technical investment, reduce the intensity of carbon emissions; (3) manage export scientifically, try to establish different regulation of value chain segment of carbon emission; (4) advocate the green GDP, change the mode of economic development.
