The Influence Of Safety Leader On Safety Performance In Construction Team

With the development of Chinese economy, the construction industry plays more and more important role in the national economy. However, the current situation of construction safety is still not optimistic. There are many reasons such as open operation, large personnel flow, stereo crossover operation, irregular shape of structures, etc. Moreover, according to the statistics made by authoritative department,90% of safety accidents occurred in construction team. Therefore, construction team is the forefront of accident control and the key factor for enterprises to strengthen production safety management. But the current research on safety of construction teams mainly focus on the construction team safety climate, safety culture and safety management. There are few studies on safety leadership in construction team. Therefore, in this paper, the structural equation model is used to study the key members of construction team and explore the effect mechanism of them on safety performance. The main contents of the research are as follows:(1) The relevant literature internal and external is reviewed and the present situation of safety leader and safety performance is discussed. Moreover, the lack of domestic and foreign research is pointed out. And then, the theoretical and practical significance of this study is analyzed. The technical route is established.(2) The theoretical origin about the influence of safety leader on safety performance is discussed. On this basis, finish the definition of the safety leader, his competency, safety attitude, safety behavior and safety performance. Identify safety leader from other group members in a qualitative perspective and build the influence model on safety performance. Meanwhile, simplify the model which has been built previously, so that it can be applied to structural equation model analysis.(3) On the basis of literature review, the measurement scales including safety performance, leader's safety behavior and safety attitude have been designed. After a summary of these scales, the questionnaire about the influence of safety leader on safety performance is formed. Afterwards, the reliability and validity of the questionnaire are tested to verify the rationality of it.(4) Distribute questionnaire to workers among 4 construction sites in Nanjing and Suzhou. Then, the simplified model is fit by the survey data. In the end, the influence factors and the mediation effects of the model are explored. In this regard,5 measures are given to improve the s afety performance of construction team.The results show that:safety leader has a strong emotion on security work, but their safety value evaluation and safety expect have no effect on safety behavior; compared to the relationship oriented behavior, safety leader is more inclined to task oriented behavior; safety performance is the embodiment of the process and safety behavior plays a mediating role between safety attitude and safety performance; there may be a third kinds of safety behavior.
