At present, the research on the urban functional separation is rarely conducted explicitly by differentiating the production agglomeration and R&D agglomeration, which have an different impact on the TFP. However, there are few research papers paying much attention to the dynamic research on the urban functional separation. For example, on the basis of the separation of production and research function, whether the production activities agglomeration and R&D activities agglomeration is stable as time goes by. Although the agglomeration effects of urban functional separation is able to promote urban development or improve the labor rate, because of the different value chain link, the agglomeration effects mechanism which bring city returns and improve the labor rate is different. In order to deeply research the influence mechanism of the agglomeration on the total factor productivity of enterprises based on the urban functional separation,This paper tease out the growth mechanism on total factor productivity of production and R&D agglomeration on the basis of the related literature at home and abroad.then using 2005-2007 firm-level data, this paper measure the index of production and R&D agglomeration and establish a regression model to test how the production and R&D agglomerationa influence the TFP. It is found that the agglomeration degree of the manufacturing Industry of Electronic and Telecomunications Equipment production agglomeration shows a Inverse U-shape correlation with the total factor productivity, and the R&D agglomeration degree has a positive correlation with total factor productivity.More importantly, the R&D agglomeration effects have a positive influcence on the production agglomeration effect.By using the provincial level data and conducting the step test,The empirical results keep good stability. At the same time, it is found that R&D investment, worker training level, the amount of captial per worker, the level of enterprise welfare are positively related to total factor productivity.
