Mining is the foundation of heavy industry, fuel industry, machinery manufacturing and other industries,the mining's stable development plays an important role for the national economy's healthy operation. Coal enterprises in China belong to the special production-oriented enterprises, generally have poor production conditions, large-scale enterprises, weak science and technology capacity, the weight economic burden and other characteristics. Against this background, the reasearch of coal enterprises' competitiveness,especially coal enterprises how to obtain, maintain and update the core competitiveness is very necessary.Under the analysis of the international changes within the scope of the current situation in the world and the coal industry development, detailed analysis the development of Chinese coal industry, this context proposed the current opportunities and challenges which the coal industry development facing.Using SWOT analysis method, analysing Z company's external environment and internal conditions, identifing the threats and opportunities the company faced, in order to make the company able to formulate better development strategies. And from Z company's seven aspects including strategic decision-making ability, operation management, management model, technology development, corporate culture, marketing and human resources to analyze the company's internal environment,from Z corporation's macro environment,industry environment and competitor three aspects to anlysis the company's current external environment, on the basis of the above analysis proposed viable means to improve the Z company's core competitiveness.Conclusions of this study can not only help Z company finding ways to construction and cultivate its core competence,but also have a certain reference value for other coal companies' development.
