Study On Spatial Distribution Of Agricultural Industry In Sichuan Based On Land Resources Endowment

Focusing on the "Issues of Agriculture, Farmer and Rural Area" in consecutive 13 years, the NO.1 Document of the central government regards it as a top priority of the party’s work in this year, and proposes to accelerate the agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics. After more than 30 years of reform, China’s agriculture has entered a brand-new historic stage, for which both the market discipline and resource constraint restrict the development of agriculture. In Sichuan Province, the intensity and regionalization of agriculture and the level of industrial modernization are low, along with land fragmentation and lack of large-scale operation. For this purpose, the study on the distribution of agricultural industry of Sichuan based on land resources endowment provides an optimal solution, which offers an effective strategic path for the transformation and upgrading of agricultural industry of Sichuan and thus guarantees the sustainable development of Yangtze River Economic Zone via protecting the ecological environment.The theoretical part of the paper discusses the domestic and overseas research status on the spatial distribution of agricultural industry, as well as the relevant theories including Agricultural Location Theory, Spatial Structure Theory, Theory of Comparative Advantage, and Coordinated Regulation Theory. Then, the advantages of Sichuan Province in the natural resources of agriculture are fully explored, and the status of spatial distribution of agricultural industry and utilization structure of agricultural land are analyzed; the problems on the spatial distribution of agricultural industry of Sichuan Province are further analyzed; the Grey Forecast Model is used for forecasting the supply and demand of main agricultural products of Sichuan Province in the future, in order to make sure the objectives and key points in industrial spatial distribution, and to propose the ideas about the spatial distribution of agricultural industry of Sichuan Province by means of the analysis of comparative advantages of main crops of each city/region of Sichuan. The main research results include:1. Problems existing in the spatial distribution of agricultural industry of Sichuan Province:(1) low level of agricultural land intensification, and small scale of regional distribution; (2) low degree of development and utilization of land resources, and lack of obvious regional characteristics; (3) convergence of regional land use structure, which restricts the agricultural regionalization; (4) low level of production unit specialization, and lack of motivation for regional specialization.2. Adjustment in the spatial distribution of agricultural industry of Sichuan Province:(1) Chengdu Plain:aiming at the protection of ecological environment around the city, to develop urban agriculture and to focus on the development of the "basket" products; (2) hilly regions:to develop circular agriculture and water-saving agriculture, and to promote and develop the Lakeside Economy in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River; (3) mountain areas around Sichuan Basin:to develop organic agriculture and forest economy, and to develop eco-tourism and rural tourism; (4) mountain areas in Southwest Sichuan:to focus on the development of characteristic agriculture and stereoscopic agriculture, to take full advantage of forest land, grassy hill and grass slope in the forestry and animal husbandry region, and to develop the forest economy that combines forest and grassland; (5) northwest plateau:to develop the grassland economy that limits animal husbandry and returns grazing land to grassland, and to develop agriculture in the proper area; meanwhile, to strive to develop sightseeing agriculture, ethnic customs tourism and ecological tourism.3. Suggestions on the spatial distribution of agricultural industry of Sichuan Province:(1) to make use of land resources characteristics, and to innovate the mechanisms to coordinate land resources; (2) to adjust and optimize the agricultural structure, to carry out feeding and breeding grain reform, and to strengthen the features in agricultural industry layout; (3) to improve the circulation of agricultural products of Sichuan, and to pay attention to the soft environmental construction including trading system and trading rules in order to guarantee the quality safety of agricultural products.
