Due to the increasing demand in all aspects, the inevitable result of urbanization is outward expansion of urban space and evolving of spatial structure.Different urban development is affected by different factors, and different factors have different effects on urban development. Therefore, only study the speed and mode of urban land expansion and its driving force in depth, we can understand the laws and the inherent power of urban development, which contribute to rational and scientific use of urban land. Effectively carry out the overall urban planning in order to meet the progress of human development and social economy, etc.The research ideas of this paper are:Select the representative medium development urban in central region-Xinfu District Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province as the study area, read a large number of data associated with the selected topic, define concepts of urban spatial expansion and its driving force mechanism. Based on the theory of solid, summary the dynamic research at home and abroad. Use Shanxi Statistical Yearbook, Statistical Yearbook of Xinzhou City and land use dynamic degree model to analysis and show the basic characteristics of Xinzhou City Xinfu District urban land expansion speed, direction, mode, etc. Arrangement and selection the related factors and the impact of urban space expansion, combined with facts of the local design the survey scheme relating to the effect of urban expansion drivers. Twice went to the study area to conduct field visits, combine household surveys with discussions to ensure balanced and representative sample, collecting relevant information and data. Introducing binary logistic model to analy the index data in questionnaire, and summed up the comprehensive driving factors which impact on urban spatial expansion. Combined with the local actual development policy and public reflection, summed up the the existing problems in its development process, and put forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) Urban Land of Xinfu District is constantly expanding. From 2003 to 2013, the net growth of the built-up area was 99.93km2, the growth rate was 51.2%, with an average annual increase of 9.09km2 and an average annual growth rate of 4.5%. Among, in 2003 to 2007, built-up expansion area was 14.6km2, an increase of 7.47%; 2008 to 2013, built-up expansion area was 85.83km2, an increase of 40.87%, the rate of expansion speed up and was 2.3 times as much as the expansion from 2003 to 2007. "3581" development strategy and the "7451" project fundamentally pull the big city framework, and expand the space of urban development. The construction of Atlantic high-speed railway and high-speed rail station in Jingzhou, directly led to the development along the region. Xinfu District urban spatial expansion mode with "grid radiation" transit by concentric circle model to multi center development model, especially BO Ming and HaYuan in the direction of the settlement, the city continued rapid northward expansion.(2) The main factors which causing Xinfu District land growth as follows:Expand the size of the population, economic growth, changes in industrial structure, the continuous development and improvement of transportation network lines, progressive cultural ideas of inhabitants, changing lifestyles, the concept of sustainable development, ecological environment construction, technical progress. Among them, the influence of technology progress to the expansion of the City Xinfu District is relatively small, and influence of cultural factors is relatively slow; Xinfu District in recent years, population growth is small, not a play a key role on the scale of urban expansion; The total economic growth and adjustment of industrial structure is the fundamental reason and direct power of the Xinfu District expansion, Traffic construction is also an important driving force of urban expansion.(3) There are still some problems in the current development of Xinfu District:the total economy is still small, poor radiation function; Industrial structure is not optimized; The construction of urban infrastructure is relatively backward; Urban green space is insufficient, the environment needs to be improved; There exists the "pie" problems, the city space layout is not reasonable.(4) Countermeasures and suggestions are as follows:On the basis of the extension of the expansion, emphasizing the "connotation" growth; Optimize the spatial layout, to form a "point, axis, net, surface" of the overall shape of a compact and orderly land use pattern; Adjust the industrial structure, improve the proportion of the one two three industry; Construct suburban rapid transit system; Strict protection of arable land and suburban ecosystems.
