Ecological upgrading of industrial parks are significant to sustainable development, among which industrial symbiosis(IS) had been taken as a critical strategy. As the first set of national Eco-industrial park, Free Trade Zone, Taiwanese Investment Zone and Tariff-free Zone, Fuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone(FETDZ) occupies an important position in Fujian province's economic development. This study integrated emergy synthesis, Kaya equation and LMDI methods together to identify and quantitatively calculate the key factors of industrial symbiosis, taking FETDZ as the case.Total emergy input increased from 2.78E+22sej/a to 6.60E+22sej/a while the percentage of renewable emergy decreased from 41.5% to 11.0%, which indicated further optimization of energy structure is the key to eco-development; GDP increased 2.31 times at an average rate of 57.4%; recycle emergy rose from 5.88E+20sej/a to 2.50E+21sej/a at an rate of 27.3%; IS benefits increased from the 1.18E+20sej/a to 3.02E+20sej/a at an average annual growth of 17.0%; water symbiosis benefits grew at an rate of 0.88% at an high starting point, but further growth was relatively limited.Kaya equation and LMDI decomposition results showed GDP scale, emergy density and IS intensity made positive effects(25.4%) on IS benefits from 2006 to 2012 in FETDZ, while validity and area played negative effects(-22.0%). This suggested the design of IS should be given priority to strengthen GDP scale and land intensive.IS activities produced larger economic benefits (4.96E+19sej/a,1.90E+19sej/a) than environmental benefits (9.61E+18sej/a,9.18E+18sej/a); symbiosis connectance of metal and electronic information industry were 0.33 and 0.21 respectively, lower than that of Kalundborg(0.47). Currently, the IS activities in FETDZ were weak and lose, relying on the one-way exchange of solid waste; symbiosis connectance of optimization in Changan group was 0.93,4.4 times and 2.8 times higher than electronic information and metal industry respectively; the IS benefits produced by Changan was 4.67E+19sej/a, among which environmental benefits accounting 67.9%, increased 71.8%.
