The automobile industry is an important pillar of the modern manufacturing industry. The domestic vehicle market is the largest market in the world, but it still needs to develop in such aspects as automation rate, intelligent factory and cost structure. The government has published the China manufacturing 2025 and robot industry development plan(2016-2020) in recent years, providing policy guidance for the application of robots in the automotive industry. The robots can improve production efficiency and the quality of vehicle, speed up the realization of automobile intelligent and reduce costs. The progress of the robot project not only requires to be completed on schedule, but also to shorten the project time, therefore,research on the progress management is very meaningful.In this paper, the stage division of the robots project is studied in the D company.The status of the progress management, the problems and reasons, the optimization scheme, the security measures and the improvement effect are also studied. There are four stages about industrial robot project, including project establishment, approval,contract, procurement and construction. In the progress management status, in accordance with the principle of WBS, 45 tasks are got and the critical path needs 534 days to do. There are many problems of long time and delay in project activities. The reason is that the project responsibility relationship is ambiguous, supplier qualification is poor, project participants are not enthusiastic and have low ability, and budget reporting is too low.In view of the above problems and reasons, the optimization goal is set. The project is completed on schedule and the robots are installed in late August each year.The optimization scheme is following. The project logical relationship is optimized and the critical path is shortened. The project responsibility distribution matrix is established. The supplier technical evaluation and performance evaluation are set up.Personnel performance evaluation and calculation methods of recovery period are optimized.The security measures is following. The project team organizational structure is established and prepare well in advance. Equipment management software PMS system is introduced. Milestone node is setting to control project schedule and processes are standardized. There is no delay for industrial robots project in this year.The above research provides valuable experience for D company to introduce the progress management of industrial robots, and also provides reference for the automobile manufacturing industry to promote the industrial robot project schedule management more scientific, efficient and standardized.
