Jilin Petrochemical Company is formerly known as Jilin Chemical Industrial Company,which is the first large-scale chemical industry base with three large plants built during the period of "the first five-year plan". It is called as “the eldest son of New China chemical industry”. Its construction started in 1954. It was completed and put into operation in 1957. In1998, it was incorporated into China National Petroleum Corporation. By now, Jilin Petrochemical Company has crude oil processing capacity of 10,000,000 tons/year, ethylene production capacity of 850,000 tons/year and fuel ethanol production capacity of 600,000tons/year. It has 67 sets of main plants and its total assets are 29.2 billion yuan. It has 115 kinds of main products, including gasoline, diesel, aviation kerosene, polyethylene, ABS,acrylonitrile, ethylene-propylene rubber, styrene butadiene rubber, etc.Now, Jilin Petrochemical Company has three ABS production plants. They are 180,000tons/year ABS plant, 200,000 tons/year special ABS plant, and 200,000 tons/year general ABS plant. The total ABS production capacity of the company is up to 580,000 tons/year,ranking third in the country and first in PetroChina.The paper mainly studies the quality improvement during the production of ABS product(0215A) of Jilin Petrochemical Company, and especially makes a deep research on ABS product impurity control. The paper briefly introduces some basic theories of quality management, including quality's concept and significance, quality management's definition,development course and development trend and quality management tools needed, such as PDCA cycle and QM team. The paper also introduces Jilin Petrochemical Company, ABS plants, production process, ABS products quality management and principles of making production process and quality control with quality management concepts.The paper focuses on the QM team working process. It uses PDCA cycle to research,analyze and improve ABS products quality problems. In the planning stage(P), histogram,Pareto, brainstorming method and causal analysis diagram are used to find out the problems and main defects. After comprehensive analysis on the causes of the defects, causal analysis matrix is used to find out the most critical influencing factors. Then improvement plan was made for these problems.The paper combines with the actual production of the company. According to the process features of the ABS plants and through repeated experiment on the main factors affecting ABS products quality, ABS R&D center get the reasonable parameters of reaction temperature of PBL unit and the dryer temperature of HRG polymerization unit, and also gets optimum cleaning solvent of SAN preparation unit. Finally, through the implementation of one and a half months, our improvement program has effectively been proved to be successful.Through optimizing reaction temperature of PBL unit and dryer temperature of HRG polymerization unit, and replacing cleaning solvents of SAN preparation unit, ABS impurityamount drops significantly and is steadily controlled below 10. Then the product quality is improved greatly.The paper will combine relevant theories and methods of quality management with some specific problems in quality improvement of ABS product of Jilin Petrochemical Company,and make comprehensive research and discussion on some aspects, such as doing quality research, optimizing production technology and improving equipments and facilities relying on ABS Research and Development Center of the company. It has certain reference significance to the product quality management of Jilin Petrochemical Company.Quality improvement is the work that must be carried out for enterprise development,and is the only way to improve the overall level of the company.
