Furniture is a necessity of our daily life. The output value of Chinese furniture industry ranked first in the world in 2006. And panel furniture got a rapid development particularly. Not only the demand for panel furniture is increasing, but also the request of the design, quality and order cycle is becoming higher and higher. Therefore, in order to optimize production line with targeted measures, it's more and more important to identify the problems faced by the panel furniture production line accurately, conduct simulation of panel furniture production line, and analyze the operation results of simulation model.Firstly, this paper found that it is better to study the production line with the combination of the graphical modeling method and simulation technology through the literature research of production line system, simulation modeling method, simulation technology at home and abroad. And this paper proposed the research process of simulation of the panel furniture production line, based on the analysis of present situation and problems of panel furniture production line.Secondly, this paper analyzed the mode of operation of production units of panel furniture production line in detail, such as cutting, edge, drill, mil, trial assemble, pack, and builds ESHLEP-N models respectively. In the empirical research part, the paper established a whole ESHLEP-N model of the production line of D panel furniture enterprise.Under the single-order production mode, the ESHLEP-N model of the producton line was set up by the means of series. But under the mixed-order production mode, it was built according to the process flow.Thirdly, this paper also studied the correspondence between the library, the change, the rule in the ESHLEP-N model and object in the Flexsim simulation model. Based on the ESHLEP-N model of the production line, this paper constructed the Flexsim simulation model of the production line of panel furniture according to the single-order production mode and the mixed-order production mode separately. That is Simulation Model One, Simulation Model Two. To optimize the production line under the mixed-order production mode, the paper added an edge device into Model Two.And it is Simulation Model Three. This paper also provided the parameter settings and main codes involved in the establishment of those simulation models, including production plan, process route, time setting, queu rules, task sequence, using operator.Finally, this paper took the production line of D panel furniture enterprise as an example to do an empirical research, based on the panel furniture production line simulation research method and the field survey. The main conclusions are as follows.(1)The mixed-order production mode can raise the overall production efficiency. It also can raise the utilization of the palte.(2)Under the current production mode, the mill process of panel furniture production line is blocking, and it is unimpeded under the mixed-order production mode.(3)No matter what kind of production mode, the edge process is blocking.(4)The present production plans didn't match the actual production capacity of production line. And the capacity of production equipment was not fully explored.(5)Under both production models, the idle time of the operator at both trial assemble and pack units accounted for a larger proportion.(6)The preparation time of the edge and drill processes accounted for a higher proportion. The processing time can be reduced through decreasing the preparation time.(7) Under the mixed-order production mode, adding a edge device, can not only solve the blocking problem of edge process, but also realize the daily 95 orders capacity of the production line. The capacity increased by 90% compared with the current annual average daily output of 50 orders.
