Beam pumping unit that has simple structure, durable, easy maintenance and many other features has been dominant in the rod lift system. However, beam pumping unit confront complex environmental conditions that has a cross-load variability, cyclical and shock resistance, which make the motor load rate is very low, especially for the lack of capacity in the well fluid case. This caused a great waste of energy. Therefore, the study beam pumping unit energy-saving control is significant.In this paper, insufficient liquid supply wells within the same block result in low oil production, energy waste serious problems. After analysis of the beam pumping unit frequency conversion energy conservation principle and beam pumping unit load characteristics, cluster beam pumping unit energy-saving control solutions which have a parameter to be controlled that is a polished rod dynamometer area's value were put forward. In order to improve the level of centralized control, cluster control system GPRS network via a remote two-way transmission of data. In the control room controller can monitor beam pumping unit of pumping blocks and keep abreast of the pumping operation state. System implements strategy of energy-saving control for reducing power consumption when insufficient liquid supply was found.Since the beam pumping unit production systems is difficult to establish a precise mathematical model via classical control theory. After analyzing the characteristics of fuzzy control, fuzzy controller was designed based on fuzzy control method. At the same time, for the pumping unit operating mode perturbations great change control effect is not ideal problems, self-tuning scaling factor fuzzy controller was designed to improve the control effect.After completing the selection and design of system hardware and software design and development, ControlLogix5000 integrated control architecture was constructed the cluster beam pumping unit energy-saving control system simulation platform as the core in the laboratory. The consumption of pumping energy is decreased and efficiency that is pumping units operating has been improved after running cluster beam pumping unit energy-saving control system via comparing the test data from testing. The results showed that the cluster beam pumping unit energy-saving control system to achieve the objectives of energy efficiency increase.
