With the rapid development of breeding industry,poultry and livestock manure is becoming an important source of agricultural non-point pollution.However,large-scale livestock and poultry manure is also a huge resource library.To solve the pollution caused by various manures from livestock farms,it is an important solution to process them into fertilizers.Granulation of organic fertilizer is the key process of producing organic fertilizers from livestock manures.It will facilitate the replacement of chemical fertilizer by organic fertilizer and promote the green development of agriculture.Aiming to improve the quality of pelletized organic fertilizer and to stabilize working performance of organic fertilizer pellet mill,this paper developed a vertical ring die pellet mill,which is of great value to promote and put into production practice in organic fertilizer area.Basing on the physical properties of organic fertilizer,and analyzing domestic and foreign researching status of ring die pellet mill,the paper put forward overall design requirements of organic fertilizer pellet mill.Then,the whole structure is designed,including:transmission system,shafting system,ring die structure,press roller structure and cutting device.We discussed the process and installation parameters for each part,which affected the output and particle quality.According to the theoretical calculation,the diameter of hollow shaft is designed as 160mm and the thickness is 20mm.The diameter of solid shaft is designed as 115mm.A Strength and rigidity were checked and the results indicate that the designing parameters satisfy the working performance requirements.According to the production and power distribution characteristics,we simulated and analyzed the motion state of the material in the ring mold with discrete element method.And then we studied the material distribution on the inner wall of the ring die under different die speeds,heights and roller diameters to verify the rationality of device performance parameters.By manufacturing a model machine,we made a pelleting experiment.No-load experiment was firstly done to test the basic parameters of the machine.Through field experiment and data analysis,it is concluded that when the material moisture content is 31.4%,the pellet mill produced pellets with better quality,consuming lowest energy and running smoothly.We forecast that if the diameter of ring die is 672 mm,the output shall be more than 6 t/h.
