Polyester-cotton blended fabrics modified with cationic nanospheres were dyed with a kind of dye or pigment that the technology could make the dyeing process shorten,reduce costs,save water and avoid water pollution.In this article,the effects of modification and dyeing were studied,including the VBT dosage,nanosphere concentration,p H of the solution,dye concentration,temperature of baking after dyeing and alkali treatment.The surface hydrophobicity of the fabric and the distribution of the nanospheres on the fiber surface s were analyzed by testing the contact angle of the fabric and observing the scanning electron microscope.In addition,the effects of pigment dyeing for blends were discussed,including the pigment concentration,temperature and binder dosage on the color and fastness of the fabrics.The results show that the K/S value of the modified fabric increased gradually with the amount of nanospheres increased on the fibers.The dye concentration and baking temperature had a great influence on the color strength.Besides,the contact angle of the fabric shows a strong hydrophobicity on the surface of the fabric after baking.The scanning electron microscopy pictures of the fibers show that the distribution of the nanospheres on the surfaces of the polyester fiber and the cotton fiber is monolayer,and the amount of adsorption and the uniformity of the distribution are related to the alkali treatment conditions.After the baking,the film was smooth and the fastness is better.The results show that the K/S values were increased gradually with the amount of nanospheres increased on the fibers.The dry and wet rubbing fastness was improved with the nanosphere concentration increased.The color depth increased with the amount of pigments on the fibers increased.The K/S values and the color fastness of the fabric were greater after adding the binder.With the temperature raised,the color strength almost increased linearly.After soaping,the washing fastness of the fabric is better.The binder did not make the washing fastness better,which indicates that the modification by nanosphere is advantageous for the washing fastness.
