Research On Regional Sustainable Development Based On Ecological Footprint Theory

39 years after the reform and opening-up,our country's economy develop rapidly.Industrialization,urbanization and modernization are accelerating and the comprehensive national strength is enhanced.But we paid a high ecological cost,resources constraints are tightening,environmental pollution is worsing and ecological is degradation,the whole economic and social is facing the risks and challenges of unsustainable development.Thus,the party and the government put forward the sustainable development as an important content of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and indicators to build a well-off society in an all-round way,thus achieve modernization.But how to measure sustainable development,especially how to measure the level and status of a certain regional's sustainable development,and how to put forward the coordinated development of regional's economic and social ecological ideas,strategies and policies in order to support the sustainable development of the region.Based on this,this paper takes the city Xiantao in Hubei Province as an example and uses the ecological footprint analysis method to calculate the ecological footprint of Xiantao.In calculating,this paper uses the production and consumption of agricultural products of local residents and evaluate Xiantao's ecological sustainable development and puts forward suggestions to promote Xiantao's ecological sustainable development.This paper studys the ecological footprint theory,model and calculation method,compares the domestic and foreign scholars' study about the calculation method of ecological footprint,combines with the research object of this paper(Xiantao,Hubei Province)uses the concept of "province ha" to calculate the production factor of Hubei Province and Xiantao,in order to make the results more accurate.The paper uses the data of statistical yearbook of Hubei Province to calculate the equivalent factors of Hubei Province from 2010 to 2015,then uses the data of statistical yearbook of Xiantao to calculate the production factors of Xiantao in 2010,2012,2014 and 2015.Through calculating the ecological footprint,ecological capacity and ecological deficit(surplus)of Xiantao,comparison analysis the ecological footprint of certain fixed years,dynamic and structure analysis of ecological footprint of ecological footprint,this paper found that unreasonable structure in land use is the main reason for Xiantao's ecological deficit.Unreasonable land use structure mainly includes:(1)less woodland and uneven distribution;(2)lack of grassland;(3)cultivated land's productivity decline;(4)water pollution is increasingly serious,the land use structure is unreasonable,residents' consumption level is higher,change in consumption patterns and food structure is changing,the concept of regional sustainable development is weak.Finally,in order to improve Xiantao's ecological environment and promote its sustainable development,the paper gives the following suggestions:(1)improve farmland productivity;(2)expanding forest land area;(3)protect grassland ecological system;(4)protect water ecological system,innovation cultivation mode;(5)promote intensive utilization of construction land,(6)control population growth,improve population quality;(7)to speed up the transformation of fossil energy to a low-carbon economy etc.
