With the rapid development of China's economy and the continuous improvement of the level of information technology,all walks of life are facing a huge change.Now the rise of the Internet of things and the wisdom of the city,as well as the digital city construction,it is imperative that the traditional construction industries are needed to achieve information and digital.It's the Building Information Modeling(BIM)concept that points the way for the traditional construction and project management of information technology.Based on the analysis of the role and value of BIM,this paper discusses the advantages and value of BIM for the construction project life cycle management from design,construction to operation and maintenance.Then the present situation of BIM application in construction project management is expounded,and the problems in the development of BIM in China are found out,it did not implement the whole life cycle,the participation enthusiasm is not high,the lack of standards and software.Along with these problems,the solutions are proposed,such as establishing BIM standards,speeding up the development of relevant software and personnel training,and changing participants' attitude to be active cooperation,and building out the integrated information plat form of BIM,and perfecting environment for BIM development and relevant laws and regulations.In a word,based on BIM construction project management is the future trend and direction of project management.In conclusion,it is concluded that the construction project management based on BIM is the direction and trend of construction and engineering in the future,and it is feasible and inevitable to replace the traditional engineering project management based on BIM.
