With the rapid development of the power system,the power grid is becoming more and more powerful,the network structure of the power system is more complex,and it is especially important to improve the safe operation level of the power system.As the first line of defense for the safety and stability of power grid,relay protection is an important responsibility to safeguard the safety of power grid and equipment.Relay protection is an important guarantee for the normal operation of power system,and the relay protection calculation is the key to reliable operation of relay protection device.This paper analyzes the electrical protection of thermal power plants based on the 2*350MW heat and power generation project in Xingtai,Hebei province.In view of the characteristics of the electricity connection of the electric main single line,the relay protection configuration of the plant is studied.According to the requirements of the relay protection,use the ETAP software to calculate short-circuit current,analysis of power plant main protection configuration,setting calculation and protection device operation characteristics is very important to power plant safe and reliable operation.The operation results and data analysis in protective relaying system are very useful and meaningful for the efficient and security of this power plant.
