Soil fungi are those living in soil for all or part of life cycle. The group of fungi has a worldwide diversity and abundantly existing in soil as Deuteromycotina, within a large number of Dematiaceous hyphomycetes. The group can be differentiated by the character, conidum and conidiophores and hypha with the color dark to black. Because of many types of climate, topography, soil and vegetation with maybe having a plenty of fungi resources in China, in this study, we selected the place western Yunnan and Leek Mountain in Guizhou to investigate the diversty of Dematiaceous hyphomycetes, so that our results can be utilized in the further research on Dematiaceous hyphomycetes.Samples were collected from different habitat, including volcanic?atami?forest?farmLand and vegetable plots?ponds and swamps, in Kunming?Baoshan?Tengchong and Longling in Yunnan Province and Leek mountain in Guizhou. We attained 205 strains from 211 samples and37 belonging to Dematiaceous hyphomycetes, conluding 15 genera, 19 species based on morphologic and phylogenetic characters. The species Alternaria eriobotryae is a new one(unpublished). Two species(Arthrinium malaysianum ? Periconia pseudobyssoides) are newly recorded in China, and one is an undeterminated species Cladosporium sp.. All of specimens and living cultures were deposited in Herbarium of Department of Plant Pathology, Agricultural College, Guizhou University(HGUP).In the present research, 15 genera Dematiaceous hyphomycetes were discussed on the classificational placement of genera and species with a key afforded and research progress in inland and overseas. The morphology of 19 species was described in detail. The identificationwas performed combined morphologic characters with the analyses of phylogenetic tree.
