Research On The Agricultural Proverbs In "Four Times"

Sishi Zuanyao is an ancient agricultural compilatory book of our country, which is used to record the agricultural matters in accordance with the four reasons and months. It reflects the characteristics of the production of agriculture in the late Tang Dynasty and the early Five Dynasty, on the base of QiminYaoshu,ShanjuYaoshu and the own records of the author.This paper explores and analyzes the agricultural colloquial words in Sishi Zuanyao from the perspective of liguistics. This paper covers four chapters.The first chapter introduces the main contents, the written time, the regionalism, and the value of corpus.The second chapter, the third chapter and the fourth chapter mainly center on the agricultural colloquial words, which is the emphasis of the paper. The second chapter researches and defines the concepts of the agricultural colloquial words. Firstly, it analyzes the concept of the colloquial words, and holds the idea that they disperse in the dialect words and the spoken words. Secondly, it considers that the colloquial words can be judged from three aspects, the needs of the subject, the simplicity of the language and the direct expression. Eventually, it defines the concept of the agricultural colloquial words according to the analysis and the judgment of them.The third chapter makes a classificatory study for the agricultural colloquial words in Sishi Zuanyao. It organizes and classifies from four aspects, agricultural industry, medical health, processing of agricultural by-products, manufacture, repairing and the production of appliance, and safekeeping. It also subdivides the inside agricultural producing into four categories, including grass trees, bamboos, vegetables, melons, fruits, grains, cereals, sericulture, husbandries. In addition, it investigates the significance of some difficult words.The fourth chapter expounds the motivations of the formation of the agricultural colloquial words in Sishi Zuanyao. It discusses from the internal and external perspectives of the theory of the words. In this chapter, the theory of the internal words analyzes and researches the theory of the internal words from four contents, including voice, grammar, semantics, and rhetoric. Each content is subdivided into a few aspects to specific dissertations again. The theory of external words mainly summarizes the methods of the naming and word-creation of the agricultural colloquial words from two perspectives, characteristics of matters and the social culture. It makes words by analogy, association and other methods, according to the characteristics of different matters including shapes, colors, odors, and characters, etc.
