A Stylistic Study Of The Speeches Of The US And Russian Presidents

The political speech plays a very important role in social life.The President's speech falls into the categories of political speeches.The clear political stand and viewpoint of a speech determines the status of the country on the international stage and its influence in international affairs,and it also affects the relations with other countries.The image of the country is shown to others through the President's speech,whose audience is not only native citizens,but also the international community.As a result,analysis of the political speech is of great significance.From perspective of general stylistics,this paper attempts to analyze the stylistic characteristics of speeches of presidents Obama and Putin,specifically from the lexical level,syntactic level and rhetoric level to reveal their style.The result will help us understand the nature of the President's speech,at the same time,further broaden the research of stylistics.
