In August 2013, Youku and Beijing UniMedia co-produced the network self-produced drama "Never Thought" series. Once the drama broadcast, it quickly became a hot topic, has called "The Top One Network" by media and fans. In December 2013, the same production team creation, "Report Boss" series has added heat for the network self-produced drama. It has similar style and content with "Never Thought". These two series are famous for rich content and plenty of elements. Many of them contain the elements of "gender". For example, they focus on the performance of "Cock wire" type of role, and concern homosexuals and men dressed as women and so on. The highlight performance and the apparent acceptance attitude to these marginal men in the drama, intentionally or unintentionally, were deconstructed the elite discourse, heterosexual discourse and masculinity of traditional heterosexual gender in a society that mainstream culture occupy the central place. Therefore, these series reflect avant-garde concept of gender. Women in the network made of the present, however, no difference from the mainstream culture, are still the continuation of the traditional gender concept. However, the presentation of women in the network self-produced drama is no difference with the mainstream culture, still continues the tradition concept of gender. Women in network self-produced drama still exist as an aesthetic object and an object of desire of men. From the perspective of gender, the performance of female image in network drama in a way strengthens the gender inequality. Not only that, most of the audience unaware to gender bias. From the gender perspective, how the performances of marginal men of the network self-produced drama deconstruct the mainstream discourse which occupied a central position? What kind of gender power relations behind the portrayal of women? How the network self-produced drama as one of expressions of network cultural has reflected both traditional and avant-garde of gender conception is presented in the text? Why such seemingly contradictory gender conceptions exist? Based on considerations on these questions, this paper will analyze and interpret the network self-produced drama "Never Thought" series and "Report Boss" series from the gender perspective. The paper is divided into following sections:The first part:introduces. This section mainly introduces the significance of the topic of this paper, current research situation, research target and both theory and practice backgrounds explanations of the interpretation of the text.The second part:overview of network self-produced drama. This section mainly discussed the whole network self-produced drama, including the definition of "self-made network drama" concept, the domestic network self-produced drama's situation and development as well as the domestic network self-produced drama gender general analysis. Based on the analysis of these aspects, introduce the analysis of representative network self-produced drama "Never Thought" series and "Report Boss" series.The third part takes the network self-produced drama "Never Thought" series and "Report Boss" series as examples, analyze the edge position of them, containing three areas:the deconstruction from characterization of "Cock wire" to elite discourse, the deconstruction from characterization of the gay to heterosexual center culture and the deconstruction from men dressed as women to masculinity deconstruction.The fourth part takes network self-produced drama "Never Thought" series and "Report Boss" series as examples, analyze the image of the female and the underlying gender power relations behind it. Also, this part reveals the unequal gender power relations underlying the text mainly from the analysis of the text narrative strategy, language as well as screen showing.The fifth part conducts gender analysis from creation subject and the audience to network made drama "Never Thought" series and "Report boss" series. This part is trying to analyze the reasons of seemingly contradictory gender position from the perspective of the creation subject showed from network made drama. It mainly divided into two aspects:one is the conscious image-building that creator in order to meet the preferences of the audience on business purposes; the other is a gender unconscious image-building by the creator which is showing derogatory women image in the text. However, this kind of gender bias is ignored. Therefore, the gender awareness of the creation subject and audience already is unconsciously influenced by traditional gender bias against women in traditional gender conception.The conclusion part of this paper makes a deep consideration about the development of network homemade drama. Also, emphasized the avant-garde and traditional gender conception that embodied by the network made drama even the whole network culture.
