The year2014has been called the first year of network self-produced drama, which conforms to the trend of the development of the online video industry and has become the core of online video industry’s next round competing. It takes full advantage of the characteristics of network communication and has changed the traditional concept of television. It has become the un-neglectable new audiovisual comprehensive art carried by Internet after the movie and television. But network self-produced drama, as a new thing grown on the background of the Internet and mobile Internet, is still in exploring stage. Not having formed a mature value chain, self-produced drama, as an emerging industry, it is worth more efforts on various aspects of research and practice.This thesis takes network self-produced drama as the research object, which is innovative and unique from the perspective of selecting the topic, and illustrates from the views of the subjects of the network self-produced drama, transmission content, audience strategy and operating strategy and so on. The significance of this study lies in utilizing the5w communication mode to make a comprehensive description of this new thing conduct, and also discussing the problems existed in network self-produced drama in the current environment. At last, this study gives exploratory suggestions on the development and value space of network self-produced drama in the future. This study finds that the current network self-produced drama which is not sound as an industry is confronted with various issues such as weakness in original content, tendency of pan-entertainment vulgarization, shortage of promotional force, inadequate supervision of the relevant laws and regulations, weak awareness of copyright, and actions of implanting advertising. To solve these problems, this paper makes suggestions that the related state departments provide supports and strengthen supervision on the management of Internet works on the one hand, and on the other hand network self-produced drama makes efforts to overcome all the barriers and obstacles involved with industry and enhances its whole quality from the perspectives of producing more of their own home-made drama, publicity release and brand management and exploiting the derivatives as well as the value chain from upper, middle and lower streams, from the views of state-related departments and video site itself.
