Reflections On The Ethical Foundation Of Singer's "Animation Of Animals"

With the rise and development of animal protection in the world,Singh's"animal liberation" has become the most well-known theoretical basis.Even some people think "animal liberation" as the animal protection movement of the "Bible".But since the "animal liberation" has been produced,it has been suffering from people's controversy,especially as an economic basis for animal liberation.The purpose of this study is to explore the ethical basis of the theory of animal liberation and to reflect on its predicament,so as to provide a way to support the theoretical predicament of the ethical basis of "animal liberation".This article is divided into three parts:First,the author introduces Singh and his animal liberation theory;Secondly,the author discusses Singh "animal liberation theory" of the ethical basis;Finally,the author reflect on predicament of Singh's"animal liberation" ethics.For most people in China,they are relatively unfamiliar to Singh and his animal liberation theory,so the author introduces Singh's life and his writings.In the nearly thirty writings of Singh,we can find that most of them are related to "animal liberation".The "basis of ethics",we can call it "moral basis".Through simple combing,we can find that Singh's "animal liberation theory" exists three major ethical basis:utilitarianism,animal welfare,non-anthropocentrism.The author details discussion and introduces the three ethical basis in the second chapter of the text.In the third part of the article,the author rethinks the ethical foundation of "animal liberation theory" and finds that utilitarianism,animal welfare and non-anthropocentrism have some irreconcilable theoretical dilemma and practical problems.These dilemmas constrain the development of animal liberation.In the face of these dilemmas and difficulties,Singh made a correction to utilitarianism,trying to solve the theoretical dilemma of utilitarianism.We have a good reference to solve animal welfare and non-anthropocentrism theory dilemma from Leopold,Ralston,Schweitzer et al.'s environmental ethic ideas advocate.Reagan's criticism of Singh's "animal liberation" has led to the emergence of another way to solve theoretical dilemmas and problems.
