At the early stage of the new China,we faced an arduous task of consolidating the new regime and restore economic construction,but under the guidance of the internationalism and world revolution,the new Chinese leaders recognized that foreign assistance as an important part of the national foreign policy,we also must consider the problem of the diplomacy,so we began the road to foreign assistance work quickly.The late 1950 s to the end of 1960 s,The national liberation movements in Africa raging like a storm,the struggle for national independence across the continent.Africa have similar experience in the the colonized and oppressed history with China,so they sympathy and support with each other.Chinese believes that African countries as the third world countries to strive for independence of sovereignty and national liberation is part of the proletarian socialist revolution,therefore,at the same time,the new China gave sympathy and support to the African countries to struggle for national independence,in order to help them consolidate the regime when China itself had been in the period of economic hardship.Relations between China and Africa has always been an important part of Chinese foreign relations,assisting Africa occupies a special and important position in this relations.From 1956,Chinese began to provide economic and technical assistance to some countries in Africa,and Shanghai as one of the main industrial base of China,plays an important role in the history of foreign assistance.The study of the history of Shanghai’s economic and technical assistance to African countries,is in favor of providing useful information and reference for the work of Shanghai foreign economic and technological assistance.
