Migrant children are regarded as a social vulnerable group, and their growth has aroused widespread concern in the community.Since the reform and opening-up policy, more and more migrant workers from rural areas have entered the city,so as the migrant children. There are many difficulties for these migrant children to enter the city from rural areas, the most prominent of which is social adaptation. Therefore,in educational practice, how to effectively implement the social adaptation education of migrant children is a problem worthy of study. This study used the process of Cultural Adaptation Theory as a framework to examine the influence of indigenous personality traits and identity to social adaptation.Furthermore,we also explore the mediation effect of identity on the relationship between indigenous personality traits and social adaptation. In this study,we used the longitudinal research paradigm, personality inventory was conducted in the first year and a total of 469 valid questionnaires were obtained from the survey. In following year,Identity questionnaire and social adaptation scales was conducted and 551 questionnaires were valid. After the data collection, the data of the second groups were matched with the data of the first survey, and after eliminating invalid questionnaires,307 questionnaires were obtained.Multivariate analysis of variances was used to investigate the differences of social adaptation of migrant children in demographic variables. And person-correlation analysis and structural equation model were used to explore the relationship among indigenous personality traits, identity and social adaptation. Results showed: First, the social cultural adaptation indexes have significant differences on the demographic variable(years stayed in Shanghai). The longer the time in Shanghai, the better integrating host culture and the worse maintaining original culture.Second, the Ren Qing dimension can significantly negatively predict Loneliness, and positively predict maintaining original culture.Harmony and Face dimensions can significantly positively predict Identity.Identity can significantly positively predict Self-Esteem,Happiness and integrating host culture, and negativelypredict Loneliness and Depression.Third,Identity has a full mediation effect between indigenous personality traits(Harmony and Face dimensions)and psychological adaptation indexes. However,Identity suppressed the relationship between Face dimension and integrating host culture.Based on the above results, the following conclusions are drawn: First,as a mediation variable,Identity can well reveal the influence mechanism of migrant children's social adaptation.Second, the results of this study have some help and enlightenment for educators to carry out psychological counseling.
