The Study Of The Construction Of "VOV" In Modern Chinese

This paper,using the theory of Construction Grammar,combines the synchronic study with the diachronic analysis and does a detailed research on "VOVde".Firstly,this paper summarizes three criteria to certify "VOVde" as a construction according to the definition and characteristics,then it analyzes whether "VOVde" is met with the criteria.Secondly,this paper analyzes the internal structure of"VOVde",observes the choice of "V" "O" and the characteristics of "de",concludes that"VO" is the semantic focus of "VOVde",summarizes its construction meaning.Thirdly,this paper discusses overall features and functions of "VOVde" at three levels of syntax,semantics and pragmatics.Finally,this paper reviews the differences and similarities between "VOVde" and "VOVde + complement",it thinks that the construction is compressed and integrated from "VOVde + complement" according with the Economy Principle and the Iconicity principle.
