Self has an important significance for the individual, with unique motivation and emotional meaning. There are established effects of self-bias in perceptual level. Some researchers have suggested that emotions modulated self-bias in perceptual level. However, how the mood affect self-bias effects remained unclear. In our research,we seperate the emotional two-dimensional degree :arouse and valence aiming to investigate the mechanism of emotional influence on self-bias effects. In the experiment 1,we selected emotions of happiness, anxiety, serenity and depression according to the emotional two-dimensional theory to study the influence of moood on self-bias in perceptual matching tasks. We examined the effects of emotional valence and emotional arousal on self bias in perception separately. The results showed that compared with the anxiety and happy mood states, when subjects were in depression and senenrity emotion state self-bias impaired. The results suggested the mood on self-bias in perception was mainly due to low arousal instead of low valence.Experiment 2 examines the effect of emotions on self-bias in the task of perceptual identifacation The experimental process is the same as experiment 1.The final results show that the self-bias were impaired when subjects were in depression and senerity emotion state. It shows that the mechanism of emotional influence on self bias in perception is stable. In experiment 3 A and Experiment 3B,we manipulated the individual arousal levels directly with fixing the degree of emotional valence. The effects of different levels of arousal on self-bias in perceptual matching and perceptual identification tasks were examined.Suggesting that individuals with higher levels of arousal had greater effects on self-bias.The major findings of this study were summarized as the following three aspects:Firstly, the influence of mood on self-bias is consistent in both perceptual identification task and perceptual matching task;Secondly, the mood mainly through the level of arousal affect the self-bias in perception.
