A Comparative Study Of Hantai Marriage And Love Idioms

The idiom is averagely difficult for the Chinese language teaching as a foreign language in Thailand.Thai and Chinese idiom's have some parts that can be precisely translated.However,the condition of cultural factors influences on Thai and Chinese idioms imply the different characteristic of language which create difficulty for the Thai-Chinese language students.These conditions strongly impact on language study.In the field of language study,many of the intellectuals did an analysis on the Chinese idiom which out involved comparatively between Thai's affection and marriage.This thesis used Idiom Dictionary classification and Dictionary of Thai Royal Institute as the main source of research,which the researcher gathered.Love and marriage idioms are groups of words correlate appearance and inner characteristics of woman and man.Frame of thought for these subjects,woman man love and marriage,will be a great benefit for Chinese language teaching as a foreign language.First part of the thesis shows an overall perspective of Chinese-Thai's love and marriage idiom.(1)From meaning research shows that most of Chinese's idiom is the phrase consist of 4 letters while most of Thai's idiom is words or sentences imply comparative meaning.Nonetheless,both Thai and Chinese idiom frequently indicate background of history and culture of the countries.This reason urges the research subject valuable.(2)From the study of idiom,Chinese idiom originates from apologue,myth,historical story,literature and foreign affection.However,Thai's idiom often derives from natural,way of life,society,religious,art and literature.The second part present comparison of Chinese-Thai's love and marriage idiom which suggest the resemblance and dissimilarity of Chinese-Thai's culture.For example,number of Chinese love and marriage idiom which express image of man and woman is 43%,express virtue and education is 18%,express love and marriage is 39%.While Thai's love and marriage idiom image of man and woman is 14%,express virtue and education is 2%,express love and marriage is 84%.Finally,questionnaire research of the Thai students whom study Chinese language reveals that some of the Thai students have been studying the love and marriage idiom.However,they can't entirely understand meaning of some of idioms which result of influence of mother language and differentiates of culture.From research progress can conclude that,(1)Chinese language teachers,have to compare implications of culture in Chinese-Thai idioms which will help Thai student to understand the meaning of the Chinese idiom.(2)In Chinese idiom teaching,the teacher must prepare a suitable teaching progress for Thai student.
