Nowadays, the Chinese language is receiving more and more attention in Thailand, thus Chinese learners among Thai people are increasing day by day. However, the Chinese and Thai languages having some deep differences, many Thai students experience difficulties when learning."Chinese Comparative Sentences" are one kind of important sentence types in modern Chinese, they also constitute an important category in Chinese special sentences; moreover their grammar happens to be difficult to grasp for Thai students.Therefore, scholars in Thailand have started to research on Chinese language teaching, including teaching methods and teaching materials, in order to improve efficiency in the education process. This research starts with the comparison of Chinese and Thai comparative sentences. It also aims at analyzing the types of errors made by Thai students learning Chinese at a beginner stage, as well as the causes for these errors; finally, in accordance with the analysis of the errors, this study intends on presenting several advices for solving the problems of Thai students learning Chinese at a beginner/intermediate stage.This article mainly divides into four parts:The First part is the Introduction; it mainly reviews the research significance, gives a summary of the related field of research situation, and reviews the research methodology and the correlation theories. Besides, it determines the scope of the study and the language materials origin.The Second part is a contrast of Chinese and Thai comparison sentences. We will start with current research results on the "Chinese Comparison Sentences", and then we will discuss six types of comparison sentences:the Chinese "比" character sentence and the Thai "(?)" structure; the Chinese "不比" sentence and the Thai "(?)......(?)" structure; the Chinese "不如P" sentence and the Thai "(?)" structure; finally, the Chinese“跟...一样”sentence and the Thai "(?)" structure; the Chinese“有/没有”structure. Therefore, understanding the differences between Chinese and Thai will be helpful with the following analysis of the errors made by Thai students learning the Chinese comparison sentences. In the Third part, and according to the language materials collected, we will sum up the types of errors occurring in comparison sentences. Also, we will present an in-depth analysis of the effect on errors caused by the differences in the word order in sentences between Chinese and Thai, as well as differences in semantics.In the Third part, based on the analysis and sum up of the errors made above, we discuss the teaching of comparison sentences of Chinese as a Second Language. Then, we make recommendations for the teaching of comparison sentences of Chinese to Thai students in beginner/intermediate stages.
