Emotion regulation is very important for freshmen in high school. This study is to explore what effects positive psychological diaries have on the effective ways of emotion regulation of freshmen in high school. High school students emotion regulation questionnaire and PANAS emotional self-rating scale are taken as the measuring tools.Freshmen in high school are the research objects. Two classes are chosen at random, and one is the experimental group and the other is the control group . Students in the experimental group kept writing positive psychological diaries for 30 days. Students in the control group studied as usual. The independent variables of this study is to write positive psychology diary,and the dependent variables are the ways of emotion regulation and positive emotions. Finally, the results of the experiment are illustrated based on the analysis of the test date of the ways of emotion regulation and positive emotions.After dealing with and analyzing the materials from positive psychological diaries written by the students in the experimental group , the positive psychological effectiveness questionnaire and individual interviews etc, I selected typical materials as auxiliary materials to know the ways of emotion regulation and positive emotions of the students in the experimental group.The results are as follows:1. Students in the experimental group and the control group get greatly different scores in cognitive response, depression, relaxation and emotion expression, but there is no significant difference in crying.2. After the positive psychological diary writing, students in the experimental group and the control group show significant difference in the various dimensions of emotion regulation ways and the total scores.3. Writing positive psychological diaries helps the students inspire positive emotions and reduce negative emotion experiences. The more frequently positive emotion regulation ways are adopted , the more likely emotion regulation ability is to be improved.
