Chinkiang is an important entrepot trade port. Chinkiang is the largest commercial port which is in charge of transit trade in Yangtze River Valley in Modern China. The wood oil trade is a kind of important local product imports. The value of wood oil trade is about one-third of the total value of local product imports in Chinkiang. The history of wood oil trade dates back to Qing Dynasty.Due to different kinds of reasons, the wood oil trade in Chinkiang is different from other commercial ports such as Shanghai and Hankow from 1861 to 1937. The import value of wood oil trade in Chinkiang is always very large from 1864 to 1937. The import value of wood oil trade in Chinkiang is one of the largest ports in Modern China. The wood oil trade of Chinkiang is different from Shanghai and Hankow because the wood oil trade of Chinkiang is entrepot trade. A large quantity of wood oil is shipped to Chinkiang . Chinkiang is an important domestic port in the lower reaches of the Yangtze river. The wood oil trade not only plays an important role in the development of wood oil trade in Yangtze River Valley, but also has an influence on the urbanization of Chinkiang. The development of wood oil trade of Chinkiang contributes to the development of transportation industry and storehouse. The development of financial industry is due to the wood oil trade. In a word, the development of wood oil trade has a close relationship with the development of Chinkiang.
