A Study On Yichang Port’s Trade In The Modern Times(1877-1919)

After the inception, Yichang is located in the central China and is the junction of the upper and middle Yangtze, therefore it is also the waterway transport hub and important distributions center for goods.Its characteristics can be summarized as follows:foreign goods to Sichuan, Local products out of Sichuan. Yichang is the important transshipment port in the modern history of trade situation in-depth research, and it can enhance the understanding of modern economic development of Sichuan, Sichuan, Hubei. In addition, Yichang was one of the major opium distribution Center at that time, the analysis about opium trade of Yichang, also contribute to research into the history of the modern opium trade.This article may do the analysis of inter cause and external cause about the change of Yichang history and the influence of the development about the port.
