In the recent years due to China's advancements on the international arena the number of Ukrainian students coming to China has been on the rise.With the introduction of a direct air flight from the capital of Ukraine Kyiv to Beijing the Ukrainian people have started to display even more interest in the modern China,its language,culture and its people.But since the Ukrainian language is a part of an Indo-European language family,the Chinese characters look very alien and cryptic to Ukrainians,but due to their close relation with the Chinese culture,philosophy and art,study of the Chinese characters for any foreigner interested in Chinese is of the greatest significance.That is why this paper deals with study of the common errors in written Chinese characters made by the entry-level Ukrainian students of Kyiv National Linguistic University by collecting them,examining and analyzing any patterns in their appearance and the reasons for those errors,as well as pointing out valid teaching strategies.This paper consists of the following chapters:The first chapter is the introduction.It introduces the research topic,its research value and the methods for carrying out the research.The second chapter is the manifestations of the errors in Chinese character in Ukrainian students' hand writing,and it includes both the introduction into the actual research,its scope and subject,as well as deals with analyzing the errors themselves and classifying them.The third chapter is the analysis of the errors in Chinese character in Ukrainian students' hand writing,and it mostly deals with analyzing the causes of errors and their manifestations.The fourth chapter is the relevant teaching strategies for combating the errors in Chinese character in Ukrainian students' hand writing and this is where the teaching strategies for avoiding the errors in strokes,character elements,character structure and for improving the teaching process in general are offered.The last chapter is the conclusion.This research can,on one hand,lessen the probability of errors in written Chinese characters by Ukrainian students and improve the effectiveness of teaching the Chinese characters;on the other hand,it can provide a proper systematical teaching strategies dealing with those errors,improve the awareness of the teaching stuff about the most widespread error types and simplify the preparation for the classes for the Chinese teachers.
