The communication in political economic and cultural areas between China and African countries has become increasingly frequent in recent years,which is based on language.“The popularization of Chinese” has changed from a new thing to a normal thing in Africa.Ethiopia has the largest population in northeast Africa,and has maintained good international relations with China since we established diplomatic relations in 1970 s.It actively learned the development path of China,while China also tried to help the good friend in Africa.Many companies built factories and railways in Ethiopia for providing large employment opportunities to the Ethiopian,so non-governmental exchanges between the two countries have become increasingly extensived.Many Chinese engineering constructions in Ethiopia needed a large number of local staffs who were proficient in Chinese,however,the Ethiopian also began to have a strong interest in Chinese culture and Chinese.It even could be said that if you could say Chinese in Ethiopia,you would get "a secure job" in Chinese enterprises.This situation puts forward new challenges and high requirements for the Chinese teaching in Ethiopia.How to improve the efficiency of teaching combining with the local conditions in Ethiopia,and to cultivate the most professional Chinese talents with the shortest time became the core issues which were concerned by Chinese teachers overseas.I have the honor to be a Chinese teacher volunteer for two years in the Confucius Institute of Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia,and obtains some experience on developing Chinese teaching in the special environment of Ethiopia,aiming at the characteristics of the Chinese learners in Ethiopia.And I review the current teaching situation of the Confucius Institute,including students,curriculum structure,teachers,textbooks and so on based on the Confucius Institute of Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia,and raises some strategies of improvement according to the current situation.Finally,the operation method,aiming at some practicalities,is shown in an elementary Chinese comprehensive course.It hopes to provide some teaching ideas to the Chinese teachers who teach here,and even to provide some effective references to the researchers who study the Chinese teaching in Ethiopia or in Africa.
