A Preliminary Study On The Function Of Moral Education In Beijing Opera

Great art carries positive moral connotation,passes on the thoughts of truth,goodness and beauty,purifies soul and enlightens wisdom.Rich in excellent Chinese culture and thoughts,Peking opera has been passed down from generation to generation.Its excellent plays are still undertaking education responsibility and play a significant role on the stage of moral education.In order to inherit and carry forward excellent traditional culture,give play to the educational role of Peking opera,and enrich the means of mortal education in campus,this paper,through investigation on the activity “Opera in Campus” in Beijing,analyzes the development status of the activity and the constraints in its development,and puts forward suggestions on existing problems.“Opera in Campus” provides a platform for Peking opera and primary and middle school students.In learning Peking opera,primary and middle school students begin to understand and love Peking opera,and positive changes are taking place in their morality due to the edification of Peking opera.This paper consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction to the background and significance of topic selection,research status,and concept interpretation.The second part elaborates the rich moral thoughts implied in the Peking opera plays and briefs on the tradition of moral education of Peking opera plays.Based on field investigation,interview and analysis as well as theories such as Locke's theory of tabula rasa,Bandura's social learning theory and Piaget's theory on stages of children's moral development,the third part discusses the development status and existing problems of “Opera in campus”.The fourth part expounds the influence of Peking opera learning on primary and middle school students.In the last part,suggestions on how to give full play to the moral education function of Peking opera plays are given.In this study,it's found that the excellent traditional culture and moral education resources in Peking opera needs further development and exploitation.Especially for the current moral education in schools,Peking opera can effectively fill up its blanks in content and form,and is very beneficial for moral education on primary and middle school students.
