The Ming Dynasty Version Of The Lettering Body Research

Typeface is a crucial basis for the identification of ancient books.Engraving fonts reflect various features in different periods and even regions.The country-wide engraving books of Ming Dynasty had lasted for a long time and there are a wide variety of types of engraving books.The characteristics of engraving fonts were different in different periods.It is particularly important to make a study of the evolution of the engraving fonts of the Ming Dynasty,sum up the regularity and utilize engraving fonts to identify the era of ancient books.The engraving fonts of the Ming Dynasty influenced by the political needs of the early Ming Dynasty,and also the seven ancient retro movement at the same time.There are noticeable changes in the font of each period.This study divided engraving books of Ming Dynasty into four periods according to the evolution of typefaces,there are Hongwu-to-Hongzhi period,Zhengde-to-Longqing period,Wanli Period and Tianqi-Chongzhen Period.Combing with specific archaeological data,it will analysis the characteristics of engraving fonts and search the regularity of development of each period.Engraving fonts of Ming dynasty can be divided into soft-style and hard-style typeface system.Moreover,soft-style are subdivided into Zhao Mengfu style,Yan Zhengqing style,Guange style,and hard-style are subdivided into Song typeface from Jiajing period,rectangle-style Song typeface,square-style Song typeface.In addition,apart from these two kinds of complete system of the font,there are some popular form of characters,which are the mixed body of The Zhao Mengfu and Yan Zhenqing style,or non-standard Taige style,and also some random handwriting.(In this essay)The characteristics,standard forms and disparate variations of the above fonts were studied to find out their internal relations and regularity of development.Taking the Album List of National Rare Ancient Books published by National Library of China publishing house(The first batch to the fourth batch)as a statistical source,this study will make the statistics on the different engraving fonts of the Ming Dynasty.After that,it will analysis the changes of engraving fonts of each period and summarize and find out the basic rule of engraving fonts of the Ming Dynasty on the basic of the statistical result,and provide the reference for the identification of ancient version of the Ming Dynasty.
