Selected by this thesis,the source text is Residential mobility: Towards progress in mobility health research published by Tim Morris,David Manley and Clive Sabel on Progress in Human Geography in 2016.With rigorous and normative language,the source text applies large amount of adverbs and present participle construction to act as adverbial modifier to explain the situation of residential mobility and uses comparative sentences to explain its opinions.In the case analyses,in responding to the problems of adverbs and present participle construction acting as adverbial modifier,the author adopts many translation methods,such as conversion,restructuring,verb paratactic clause,sujectless sentence,external sentences.As for comparative sentences,the author elaborates the skills of translating comparative sentences which fall into four categories: equal comparison,unequal comparison,extreme comparison and complex comparison.Through the conclusion of translation methods,this paper hopes to provide a valuable reference for the translation of the same type of text.
